Fran Weber, one of the first female graduates of the Culinary Institute of America at a time when the profession was predominately male, shares some of the work and life experiences that inspired her to write the book, “A Neighborhood Cafe.” As a chef for over three decades, a small acreage organic farmer, a business owner, a contributing food writer, Fran has strived to integrate her work with intense passion for a clean healthy food supply and the fair distribution of it. Inside of a Neighborhood Cafe, she asks the reader to help create an environment that invokes inclusion, honesty, and friendliness, the basis for working together for positive change.
It is Fran’s hope that her book will encourage each reader to acknowledge that by living and working from that position, we are limitless in what we can accomplish together. That process begins with the individual, and can have a strengthening home at a Neighborhood Cafe.
